Guide: Share Your Screen Live on Facebook
This guide explains how to broadcast your computer screen live to Facebook. Important: Due to browser security and technical limits, you cannot stream directly *from* this webpage. You need to use Facebook's tools or dedicated streaming software.
Method 1: Using Facebook's Live Producer (Recommended for most users)
Facebook often provides a direct way to share your screen within its Live setup.
- Go to the Facebook Live Producer page on your computer. You may need to log in.
- Choose where you want to post your live video (your timeline, a page you manage, a group, etc.).
- Look for the option to "Go Live". You might see choices like "Use Camera" or "Use Stream Key".
- Under the "Select a Video Source" section (or similar), look for an option like "Share Screen".
- Click "Share Screen". Your browser will likely ask for permission to access your screen. Choose whether to share your Entire Screen, an Application Window, or a specific Browser Tab.
- Select what you want to share and click "Share" or "Allow".
- Add a description for your live video, set privacy settings, and configure any other options (title, tags, etc.).
- When ready, click the "Go Live" button in the bottom left corner of the Live Producer.

Method 2: Using Streaming Software (OBS, Streamlabs - More Advanced)
For more control over layout, quality, and adding overlays (like webcam feeds), use dedicated streaming software.
- Download and install streaming software like OBS Studio (Free, Open Source) or Streamlabs Desktop (Free, more features).
- Open the Facebook Live Producer (link here) and select the "Use Stream Key" option.
- Copy the
Server URL and Stream Key provided by Facebook. Do not share your Stream Key publicly!
- Open your streaming software (e.g., OBS Studio).
- Go to Settings -> Stream.
- Select Service: "Facebook Live".
- Paste the Server URL and Stream Key you copied from Facebook.
- Click "Apply" and "OK".
- In the main window of your streaming software, add a source:
- Click the "+" button under "Sources".
- Choose "Display Capture" to share your whole monitor or "Window Capture" to share a specific application.
- Configure the source settings as needed (e.g., select the correct display or window).
- Arrange your sources in the preview window (you can add webcam, images, etc.).
- When ready, click "Start Streaming" in your streaming software.
- Go back to the Facebook Live Producer page in your browser. You should see a preview of your stream.
- Add your description, title, etc., on Facebook and click "Go Live".
Important Tips:
- Privacy Check: Before going live, close any windows or applications containing sensitive information you don't want to broadcast.
- Stable Internet: A strong, stable internet connection (preferably wired Ethernet) is crucial for smooth streaming.
- Performance: Streaming can be resource-intensive. Close unnecessary applications on your computer.
- Audio: Ensure your microphone is selected and configured correctly in Facebook Live Producer or your streaming software if you want to include audio narration.
